Field Trip: Birds of Port Aransas & Mustang Island with Mikael Behrens

Saturday, February 24 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Port Aransas, because of its location on a Gulf barrier island along the Texas Central Coast, attracts a vast variety of birds including Neotropical migrants, grassland and marine birds.

Participants will learn about the variety of waterfowl, pelicans, cormorants, wading birds, and shorebirds found in Port Aransas and Mustang Island.

About Mikael:
Mikael Behrens has been an avid birder and amateur naturalist since the early 1990s. He lives in Austin, but is originally from Port Aransas and returns often to help out with bird counts, lead walks, and to bird for fun. He contributes to several citizen science projects including eBird, iNaturalist, and Christmas Bird Counts. He’s always on the Port Aransas Spoonbills team for the Great Texas Birding Classic.

Meet at the Joan & Scott Holt Paradise Pond parking lot. Participants will carpool/caravan to various birding locations.
