“Returning Cranes to the English Countryside”
Robin will assess a just completed five-year breeding and release program aimed at restoring the Common Crane as a breeding species to wetlands in southwest England. The program has relied upon and modified many techniques pioneered to increase the numbers of Whooping Crane in North America.

About Robin:
Currently a Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas in Austin, Robin Doughty has written several books about Texas wildlife, including one about the Whooping Crane.  Robin has just co-authored new book about how so-called landlords are helping to conserve colonies of Purple Martins.  He is also completing another book about invasive plants and animals in Texas.  Robin has lectured about the environment, notably about endangered species, in Canada, North Africa and Australia.  He has also guided UT students on field excursions in Europe and in his native county of Yorkshire England.
