Gene Blacklock is currently the Program Leader of the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program. Gene was the Curator of National History and coordinator of environmental education at the Welder Wildlife Foundation for over twenty years. He has co-authored two books, "Birds of the Coastal Bend" and "Birds of Texas, A Field Guide." Gene has led national and international history tours for many years. He was born in Austin and received his degree in Education and Art from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi.
Gene is one of the most popular regional bird experts who spends many hours introducing new birders to the avian world. He heads up many local and area bird tours and activities throughout the year, sharing his knowledge of birding.
