Tom Stehn is Refuge Biologist/Whooping Crane Coordinator at the Aransas/Matagorda Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex. A member of the U.S. Whooping Crane Recovery Team and the Aransas GIWW Interagency Coordination Team, he has worked at the Aransas NWR since 1982. He has been an observer on crane census flights, mapping territories, documenting mortality and determining the size of the Aransas/Wood Buffalo flock. While in the Peace Corps in Africa, Tom helped set up Swaziland's first national park. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Carlton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and his Masters of Science degree from the University of Montana in 1973.
