Dr. Sammy King - Annual Whooping Crane Festival in Port Aransas, Texas

Dr. Sammy King is employed by the U.S. Geological Survey and is the leader of the Louisiana Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at Louisiana State University. He has conducted research on wetlands and wetland-dependent wildlife for over 20 years. Most recently, he has been involved with the reintroduction of a resident flock of Whooping Cranes into their former habitat in southwestern Louisiana. His graduate wetland class regularly visits coastal Texas because of the unique wetlands, water issues, and abundant birdlife.
