Rob Kent - Annual Whooping Crane Festival in Port Aransas, Texas
Rob Kent, an avid birder since childhood and superintendent of Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada, will return as a guest speaker during the Whooping Crane Festival. Rob and his Parks Canada team oversee the 30,000 square miles of protected area in Wood Buffalo Park where they are working with partners to develop a new iconic visitor experience around the Whooping Cranes and their unique habitat. Comprised of vast boreal wilderness, unique land forms and fauna, the park is designated as a World Heritage Site and has two wetlands of international significance recognised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Parks Canada’s overall objective is to increase the awareness and appreciation of these incredible birds and their national park refuge to support their longer term conservation and recovery.
