LOCAL BIRDING BUS TOURS Visit the many birding sites around the island by bus. Guides will lead each tour and help you identify different species. Tours last 1 to 1 1/2 hours and depart from the Port Aransas Civic Center.
BUS GUIDES Tony Amos is a researcher at UTMSI-retired, but still working as a Research Fellow. He has studied local Gulf beaches since 1978, completing 4,150 surveys of the beaches, birds, human disturbance, trash, and sea and weather conditions.
Scott Holt is a Research Associate at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas. Two of his favorite avocations are bird watching and photography and he is actively involved in the community's eco-tourism activities.
Tom Langschied is a Research Associate and coordinator of the South Texas Wintering Birds program at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute. He formerly served as coordinator of nature tours and ornithology for the King Ranch and continues to conduct tours on a limited basis.
Mikael Behrens is an avid birder since 1996. Mikael has been on three Port Aransas teams for the Great Texas Birding Classic, he leads monthly neighborhood birdwalks in Austin and this is the third year he has led birding trips for the Celebration of Whooping Cranes.
