Pre-Festival Photography Excursion with Sean Fitzgerald Experience an overnight outing at Texas A&M's La Copita Ranch, approximately 7 miles from Alice, Texas. The overnight photography excursion includes a dinner cooked over mesquite wood by David, the ranch manager, accommodations in the ranch research guesthouse, breakfast and lunch. La Copita is a working ranch for wildlife and rangeland research with the same habitat as the nearby Nature Conservancy brush county preserve. Guest house grounds include a native plant and cactus trail with interpretive signs, birding site and access to half a mile walking route to a wildlife observation blind with water and feeders. The renowned award-winning photographer Sean Fitzgerald will give invaluable personal tutoring in the field and wrap up on Thursday afternoon with an in-class image critique. Photography sessions will include time in the observation blind to photograph birds such as green jays, kiskadees and orioles, a nighttime "lightpainting" session and more. You will not want to miss this opportunity to experience diverse native plants, stargazing, wildlife viewing and birds. Fee. Limited to 8 persons.Transportation not provided.
