Shorebird Identification Workshop Shorebird identification can become frustrating because the plumage on many shorebirds blends with muted hues of coastal habitats, resulting in subtle shorebird field marks. Tour the Animal Rehabilitation Keep (ARK) at The University of Texas Marine Science Institute, a facility dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured and sick sea turtles and aquatic birds. You will see some of the rarest sea turtles including Kemp’s Ridley, hawksbills, loggerheads, and green turtles as well as masked boobies, hawks, pelicans and gulls.
